A Gold Ducat of the Netherlands. Fantastic condition. Struck for Ludwig Napoleon, brother of Napoleon Bonaparte. Actually Ludwig ruled the occupied territory well, caring about his subjects more than the interests of France, much to the consternation of his brother. The territory was known as the Kingdom of Holland, and existed only from 1806-1810. A fully lustrous, well struck example. Rare grade. Cataloged as KM 38. An important Napoleonic coin.
