Russia. Ruble, 1704. Diakov-p.69,9; Sev-152; Uzd-0464. This first ruble of
Peter I is struck over a 1655 Jefimok (Rarity-4) and shows very clear remnants of the
obverse counterstamps. The original host coin is a taler of Austria of uncertain type,
though with time spent in careful examination, this too may be determined. The only other
specimen of over striking on a Jefimok is shown in Spassky, but this specimen is better.

One of the rarest of Russian coin series. A Yefimok Alexei Michailovitch
1655 stamped over Brabant Patagon 1617. The coin is in F condition as usual in these
cases, the stamp is VF-XF. The coin was bought from a reputable auction house about 10
years ago and was given for sale to Giessener Munzhandlung in October 2004, lot number
6216. The coin appears in the catalogue, but was later withdrawn suspected of being a
fake, which has not been completly confirmed. Therefore, is sold here AS IS, with no

Ferdinand II 1626 (Ex-S.G. Stroganov collection). Since 1925 the genuine coin is in
