This coin, a DUCATION, measures around 1.7 inches (44mm). It is a large hammered coin which has
sat on the sea bed for about 240 years (hence surface texture). The SILVER RIDER is dated 1732 so
it had seen some circulation before the ship went down on 3rd July 1743.

It was part of a cargo of £250,000 in Guilders. Much of this consisted of 1742 'SILVER RIDERS',
but others found were contraband monies which wealthy merchants and officers had taken with them
with the intention of carrying out a little trade of their own outside of the company.

This coin comes with its own 'Certificate of Origin', giving details of the HOLLANDIA and also there
is a picture postcard showing a map of the location of the wreck and other coins recovered.
